Glass Tiger is set to shatter that perception with a hard-rocking ‘80s extravaganza on Friday night at the Casino Regina Show Lounge.

1. This Island Earth Tour

Good news: Glass Tiger is still going strong almost 40 years after releasing its debut album, The Thin Red Line.

Bad news: Friday’s classic rock show is already listed as a sellout, so you might have to get creative to find tickets.

The night opens with DJ G.I. Blunt’s performance of ‘80s hits, blending the music with mixed visual imagery from the era. The tour also features special appearances by MuchMusic VJs offering a “one-of-a-kind retrospective of the music that travelled the globe.”

“If you were a music fan in the ‘80s, you would have had to have been living on another planet in order to have missed the launch on MuchMusic of Canada’s very own Glass Tiger,” says an online preview. “People all around the world joined in the frenzy that was Don’t Forget Me (when I’m gone), Someday, My Town, (and) Diamond Sun, to name but a few.”

3. Two for one at the Callie

The Queen City Vintage & Antique Market is holding its “biggest market yet” on Friday (noon-8 p.m.) and Saturday (10 a.m.-4 p.m.) at the Callie Curling Club.

The annual spring event features over 30 vendors from across the Prairies with a wide variety of products such as coins, stamps, antiques and vintage collectibles such as china, glassware, cameras, toys, jewelry, pottery, books, records, furniture, etc.

Meanwhile, in an adjacent venue, the annual Artistry in Wood show and sale runs Friday (12-7 p.m.) and Saturday (10 a.m.-4 p.m.) at the Callie.

The free event is presented by the South Saskatchewan Woodturners Guild and the Regina Whittlers and Wood Carvers. It includes over 30 artisans who will be displaying and/or selling their creations, which range from functional kitchenware to artwork for display.
